The state of New York has cooked up an additional test that wanna-be lawyers must write in order to be admitted to practice law in the state of New York. It’s called the New York Law Exam (NYLE).
The NYLE is nothing like the UBE. It’s open-note, which fundamentally changes the nature of the game. However, just because you have access to your study materials, the exam should still be handled with utmost care. You don’t have as much time as you think to flip through stacks of paper to find the correct answer to a complex question on New York state law.
How best to prepare?
Practice exams!
There is a free practice exam supplied by the makers of the test. In addition, the folks at newyorkbarhelp.com have come up with an awesome practice test that helps you gain familiarity with your notes, so that you don’t find yourself lost on game day. It even lets you compare your results against others to gauge where you stand on a relative basis.
Good luck on the NYLE!
